Why This Movie?

Sin Nombre gives you an idea of what the journey Central American’s have to go through to get to the United States. People that are not Central American tend to not understand why Central American’s leave their country or people forget that there are other Latino/Latinas that are not Mexican. When the media shows Central America they just speak of the violence but they forget to address how it is affecting the citizens that are trying to avoid the violence. This movie gives people a better understanding as to why they leave their country and they don’t leave because they want to it is more because they have to. Violence surrounds families and many people also don’t understand that the government is not willing to help the citizens and just choose to ignore the whole situation. Many of the prisons in Honduras are run by the prisoners themselves and they do have guards, but prisoners are the ones keeping watch of other prisoners. In this situation it makes you wonder if the prisoners themselves have more power than the guards. People know the journey to the United States will be dangerous but they are still willing to sacrifice their lives in hopes to gain a better life. Many of the people don’t make it because of immigration, gangs, and how difficult the journey is.
